Common Questions About Our Services

These are the questions we hear most often from homeowners deciding which service fits their situation.

  • What is the difference between home watch and a security system for my Jersey Shore property?

A security system detects intrusion or smoke but can't catch a slow pipe leak, a failed HVAC unit, or storm debris blocking a drain. Home watch adds a trained professional who walks every room and the full exterior, documents what they find, and contacts you immediately if something needs attention — covering the gaps a sensor simply can't.

  • How often should Veteran Home Watch visit my property if I'm away for the whole winter?

Most vacant Shore properties benefit from weekly visits during the off-season when temperature swings and storm risk are highest. We can also schedule bi-weekly checks for properties with newer systems and lower risk profiles. We'll recommend a frequency based on your property's age, systems, and how long it will be vacant.

  • Which service is right for me if I only need someone to check on my home after a nor'easter hits Ocean City, NJ?

Storm Damage Checks are the right fit. We inspect the exterior, entry points, roof from ground level, gutters, windows, and any outdoor fixtures immediately after the storm clears, then send you a written report with photos the same day. If anything needs urgent attention, we contact you directly and can coordinate a vendor visit.

  • Can I combine multiple services — like home watch visits and mail collection — under one arrangement with Veteran Home Watch?

Yes. Most of our clients bundle several services based on what their property needs while they're away. Mail and package collection, HVAC monitoring, and plumbing checks are routinely included as part of a standard home watch visit schedule. We build a coverage plan around your specific property and absence calendar.

  • Does Veteran Home Watch handle vendor coordination if a repair is needed during a property check?

If we identify a problem that needs a licensed contractor, we notify you immediately with documentation. Through our keyholding and vendor access service, we can meet and supervise approved tradespeople at your property so the repair happens on schedule — without you needing to travel back to the Shore to let someone in.
